Hailing from Perth, Western Australia, Pathogen are a five-piece
band
who are dedicated to giving new life to the musical genre of metal.
Combining thumping groove sections with intricate and technical melodies,
they have
developed a unique style which has earned them much respect in the
local music scene. The members of
Pathogen are all in their early 20's, so they still have much
to offer to their chosen musical genre.
Founded in mid 1995, Pathogen are a band who are very concerned
with
providing a good live show for their audiences. For the past
four years
Pathogen have been gigging consistently, playing both support
and headlining gigs,
which has given them the opportunity to refine their unique sound.
With over 40 live performances under their belts,
They have developed an underground reputation as an impressive live
act
and have played with groups such as Allegiance, Downer, Nebula, Samain,
Kin, Choke, Enforce and not to mention Finland’s Impaled Nazarene.
Pathogen released their first recording, entitled Tyranny Of Hatred,
in mid 1996. A second
demo, entitled Nightfall, was released in the middle of
‘97. This recording was very well received
by the public, selling over 130 copies locally within its first month
of release and receiving some very
favourable reviews in national and international magazines such as
S.O.D.,Nordic
Vision and
Terrorizer
which helped to establish Pathogen’s underground following.
Pathogen launched Nightfall with a gig at the Raffles,
which saw over 400 punters pay to pledge
their support. This resulted in later success such as a a slot
in the ‘98 Kiss My WAMI Metal
Showcase concert, regular airplay on many local, national
and international radio shows
and a support slot with Finland’s Impaled Nazarene on their
recent Australian tour.
Pathogen continues to impress all with their live shows and
new material.
In late June, Pathogen will return to the studio for the first time
in three years
to record four new songs, the product of the three years work.
The promo will contain the tracks 'Bleeding
Eye' and 'Fallen Kind'
(samples from rehearsal tapes availablehere),
